91 fzr1000

i have a 91 fzr 1000 with 27000 miles on it. the engines on these bikes are rolled forwards and have a vertical draft rack of carbs. rotated forwards causes a lot of wear on the emulsion tubes in the carbs and i also believe that it may cause wear on the piston rings. I have replaced the worn out emulsion tubes and got the carbs dialed in pretty decent but what im having a problem with is cold starts. The bike runs beautifully when warm takes off great and you can feel every bit of the 145 hp it says the bike has but ever since i went throught the carbs and fixed the emulsion tubes it wont fire up without cupping your hand over the carbs. my theory is that when i replaced the emulsion tubes i leaned the excessively rich fuel mixture down. and if im right the rings are worn out and not creating enough compression to ignite the leaner mixture. if you have any ideas hit me up would love to be able to just walk out to the building hit the enricher and start it right up instead of almost killing the battery everytime i try to start it.

It does sound a lot like low compression. Valves adjusted good? If it's rings not a lot you can do there, but valves are easy.
